Matt and Kendra's desert labyrinth wedding..

Matt and Kendra arrived in Kayenta a couple days before their wedding day to find the labyrinth they had intended for their ceremony was buried under a massive amount of dirt from the previous weeks flash floods. They considered alternative locations but in the end their hearts were set on the labyrinth, so they decided to restore it. With help from their family, friends, and the community of Kayenta, they gathered the day before their wedding, with shovels, brooms and wheelbarrows to remove the thousands of pounds of dirt that covered the labyrinth. It was a challenging task that couldn't have happened in a more perfectly lovely way. I am so happy to have been a part of this wedding, not only because Matt and Kendra are amazingly beautiful souls but I'm rather fond of that particular labyrinth as well... The whole experience pulled on more than a few heartstrings, for me and everyone else involved.. As the wedding day drew nearer, so did the storm clouds... Matt and Kendra had planned to walk the labyrinth before the ceremony, but as they were preparing for that walk, Matt points out the quickly approaching dust storm and says he didn't think they had time to walk the labyrinth before it hit. Kendra, with her scuffed up manicure from the previous days work and wind blown hair, just looks at him, determined not to let mother nature ruin her day, and say's in no uncertain terms, "we're walking it". the storm came, just long enough to get sand in everyone's eyes but not long enough to break their spirits. It sprinkled a little during the ceremony, but after the winds calmed the sky opened up, and a beautiful rainbow appeared in the distance. It was truly glorious..
